 Software Engineer - Chronicle Core Team

Chronicle Software’s Core Team is responsible for maintaining our core open-source Java libraries, widely used in the high-frequency, low-latency trading world. These libraries support trading systems across multiple asset classes in financial institutions globally. In addition to core library maintenance, we work closely with clients on consulting projects to integrate Chronicle’s products and provide ongoing support in production environments.

We are growing and seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team. This role involves maintaining and enhancing our core libraries, as well as engaging with clients to deliver customized solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain core libraries by triaging issues, developing bug fixes, and building new features.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on enhancements, bug fixes, and integration efforts.
  • Engage in client consulting projects to integrate Chronicle’s software stack at scale.
  • Develop and maintain internal tooling that supports various company operations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation during business hours to help resolve customer issues involving our products and libraries.

Key Skills:

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential in our remote-first, customer-focused company.
  • Java: Extensive experience in core Java is required.
  • Low-Latency Java: Experience with low-latency Java systems is highly preferred.
  • Linux: Familiarity and comfort working on Linux systems are essential.
  • DevOps: Experience with tools like Maven and TeamCity is advantageous.
  • Financial Services Background: Experience in electronic trading or financial services is a plus.
